Jerbs companion — connect your own Claude

Requires Python 3.11 or newer with Tk, and Claude Code signed in on your computer.
Get Python from https://www.python.org/downloads/ (include Tcl/Tk on Windows).
Claude Code: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/setup
Run `claude auth login` if needed. Claude Desktop has a separate sign-in.

Windows
1. Extract this ZIP to a folder you want to keep.
2. Double-click Install.cmd. It creates a private Python environment in this
folder and downloads the companion's Python dependencies from PyPI.
3. Double-click Open Jerbs companion.cmd.

macOS / Linux
1. Extract the ZIP. Open a terminal in the extracted folder.
2. Run: python3 -m venv .venv
3. Run: .venv/bin/python -m pip install .
4. Run: .venv/bin/python -m jerbs.companion
Your Python must have tkinter/Tk installed for the window. If you prefer a
terminal, use `python -m jerbs.companion pair`, then `python -m jerbs.companion run`
with the Python inside .venv. Pairing codes are pasted at a private prompt.

Connect your account
Choose Connect to Jerbs in the companion. Your browser opens the official Jerbs
site; sign in if needed, check the displayed account, then approve this computer.
The companion connects automatically. No pairing code needs to be copied.
Requests expire after five minutes; choose Connect to Jerbs again if needed.
Keep the companion window open or minimized for Claude requests. Next time, open
the companion and its saved connection resumes automatically. Closing it leaves the website available but
pauses your computer's Claude availability. No automatic startup is installed.
For official staging use `python -m jerbs.companion --staging`; staging pairings
cannot be used on the production site.

Your data
Claude authenticates through its native sign-in and keeps its own credentials.
Jerbs never asks for your Claude password, cookie or access token. Your companion
stores only its Jerbs device credential, native account fingerprint and content-free
dispatch receipts, in an OS-protected directory separate from your Jerbs profiles.
Windows: %LOCALAPPDATA%/JerbsCompanion
macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/JerbsCompanion
Linux: ~/.jerbs-companion
Prompts and results are passed between your Jerbs account and your local Claude
only for requested work. They are not written into companion logs. Disconnect in
Jerbs revokes the pairing. Changing your signed-in Claude account requires pairing
again. Interrupted operations are not silently repeated; inspect their status in
Jerbs before explicitly requesting a new attempt.

This archive contains Jerbs Python source, installation scripts and a SHA-256
file inventory. It contains no profiles, jobs, documents, credentials or history.
Do not run this companion under an administrator/root account.
